I ♥ SF MusicTech
It is without a doubt my favorite place to see friends and meet music industry professionals from around the world. If that wasn’t enough … they also host informative panels with people I actually want to hear talk about their work.
Last Tuesday at SF MusicTech I was greeted at the door of the Hotel Kabuki by my friend and fellow balanced breakfast member Kendra McKinley. I had told the breakfast group that I felt SF MusicTech was the only conference worth volunteering for. (They treat you really well and you get to participate in a good portion of the conference.) She jumped on the opportunity and was doing an amazing job of greeting people as they arrived.
Truth be told their were a lot of Balanced Breakfast people in attendance, I saw Jared Swanson, David Rabkin, Ben Einstien, Piper Payne. I also saw Brian Zisk, Patti Silverman, Todd Tatt, and a sea of other friends and familiar faces.
The first panel I attended was at 9am and moderated by Ted Cohen from Tag Strategic … he started his panel with shots of Patron. I laughed … little did I know then that only a few minutes later I’d be doing shots with him as well. His panel was called Global Mobile & Music and he asked the best question: “Do we care more about music than most people?!” (I worry that we do, but hope that it’s contagious!)
I also attended talks about:
Elevator Pitches
Interview with Us The Duo
Making Big Data Small
Interview with K.Flay
(on DeliRadio – http://deliradio.com/kflay)
Building Community for Musicians
The Price of Music: What should it be?
My favorite take away was in the last panel … when all of the panelist agreed that they were most excited about “The Future of Music Streaming.” Clearly this is for biased reasons … because I very much want DeliRadio to be successful. (I am the art director at DeliRadio, a music streaming app that streams music of bands that have shows.)
For now I bid you adieu … and I hope do hope to draw you soon! - Stefan
